A somber mood has engulfed the Emakhandeni community after a brutal incident claimed the life of Godfrey Muzanenhamo, a dedicated neighborhood watch committee member. Muzanenhamo was shot and killed during a routine patrol in the early hours of Friday morning.
According to eyewitnesses, Muzanenhamo and his team encountered a group of men emerging from a thicket around midnight. When questioned about their suspicious activity, one of the men allegedly drew a firearm and shot Muzanenhamo in the head at point-blank range before fleeing into the darkness.
Despite being rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital, Muzanenhamo’s injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead after being admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.
Muzanenhamo’s passing has sent shockwaves through the community, with many mourning the loss of a dedicated and respected member. His daughter, Nicole Muzanenhamo, is a proud representative of Zimbabwe’s national netball team, having played for the Gems at the 2023 Netball World Cup in England.
The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding Muzanenhamo’s murder, and mourners have gathered at house number 70220 New Lobengula to pay their respects to the fallen hero.
